GRS targets more than 15 Sabah parliamentary seats in GE16
GRS is aiming for more than 15 of Sabah's 25 parliamentary seats at GE16, says Armizan Mohd Ali. The GRS convention is in Kudat on 18 October.

Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) is aiming to win more than 15 of Sabah's 25 parliamentary seats at the 16th general election (GE16), secretary-general Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said, The Star reported on Tuesday, 6 October 2026.
He was speaking after a GRS supreme council meeting chaired by GRS chairman and Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
Why 15 seats
Armizan said simulations based on the November 2025 Sabah election show GRS can realistically win 14 to 15 parliamentary seats, without counting UPKO joining. He wants more, though. "Fourteen seats are not enough," he said.
UPKO is now GRS's sixth component party after joining in June. UPKO president Datuk Ewon Benedick has said the party wants to defend the two parliamentary seats it holds, Penampang and Tuaran.
What's next
GRS will review its five-year record and its manifestos at the GRS Convention 2026 in Kudat on 18 October, with about 2,500 people expected.
