PSM wants a fixed procedure to act on audit report findings
PSM wants a standard procedure after every Auditor-General's Report so its findings are investigated and acted on, not forgotten after the headlines.

Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) wants a standard procedure after every Auditor-General's Report, so that its findings are investigated, acted on and reported back to the public, FMT reported on Friday, 2 October 2026.
PSM chairman Dr Michael Jeyakumar Devaraj said problems flagged in audit reports, such as overpriced purchases, make the news, "but after that, it goes quiet."
What PSM proposed
Jeyakumar also wants the National Audit Department strengthened, including more staff to look into waste in government spending.
The 2026 Auditor-General's Report Series 1, tabled in February, flagged 273 issues in financial management and governance at federal and state level. Among them, the report found that an unauthorised cooperative at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) had collected RM50.74 million in student fees.
PSM's Budget 2027 wish list
The proposal came at a press conference on PSM's ideas for Budget 2027, which was tabled on 9 October. PSM also proposed:
- Cutting the My50 public transport pass from RM50 to RM30.
- Raising funding for low-cost strata apartment maintenance to RM200 million.
- Easing tertiary education costs for low-income families.
- A child poverty database and more nutrition support for children.
- Tighter conditions and taxes on data centres.
- RM1 billion for a joint initiative with Indonesia against cross-border haze.
