The High Court has allowed Perikatan Nasional (PN) to seek a judicial review of the Registrar of Societies (RoS) order that suspended all of the coalition's activities, The Star reported on Tuesday, 13 October 2026.

Justice Azizan Md Arshad refused an interim stay, however, so the suspension stays in force. PN's application to stay the order will be heard inter partes on 22 October.

Who applied

The application was filed on 5 October by PN and the secretaries-general of five of its parties:

  • PAS, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan
  • Gerakan, Wong Chia Zhen
  • MIPP, N Sathes Kumar
  • Wawasan, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah
  • Pejuang, Datuk Sazmi Miah

Bersatu is not among the applicants.

Background

RoS issued a notice on 22 September asking PN to explain why the coalition should not be deregistered. A day later, on 23 September, it suspended all PN activities indefinitely, Malay Mail reported.

PN says the suspension is blocking its preparations for the Melaka election, including the use of the coalition's name and logo. Nomination is on 31 October and polling on 14 November.

Gerakan in PN

Gerakan, led by president Datuk Dr Dominic Lau, remains a PN party alongside PAS. In February, Lau said Gerakan would not contest every seat in the Melaka election and would focus on areas where it stands a chance, The Star reported.
