PeKa B40 becomes PeKa Sihat as Cabinet approves changes to ease clinic crowding
PeKa B40 is being renamed PeKa Sihat after the Cabinet agreed to changes. The Health Ministry will use clinics already in the scheme to ease crowding.

The Skim Peduli Kesihatan untuk Kumpulan B40 (PeKa B40) will be renamed PeKa Sihat. Government spokesperson Fahmi Fadzil said the Cabinet agreed on Friday 16 October, at its meeting in Putrajaya, to proposed amendments to the scheme, which sits under the Ministry of Health (KKM).
What was announced
Fahmi, who is also Communications Minister, announced the decision at his weekly press conference after the Cabinet meeting. According to Bernama, he said the decision took into account how effective the programme has been in tackling non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
KKM is also coordinating several steps to improve how the scheme is run, including using premises or clinics already taking part in the programme to reduce crowding at health clinics. The rename was described as one approach to improving how health services are delivered through the scheme.
Details still to come
The government has not given an effective date, a cost, or how the participating clinics will help ease crowding. Fahmi said KKM will announce the details of the improvements soon. No change to eligibility has been announced so far.
Background on PeKa B40
PeKa B40 is run by ProtectHealth Corporation under KKM and provides free health screening and support for NCD treatment for low-income groups. According to Kosmo, recipients of Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and their spouses aged 40 and above qualify automatically.
Because eligibility is tied to STR, changes to the cash aid matter to B40 families too. The latest on payments is in STR and SARA 2027, who gets how much and 202,829 new-generation MyKads issued, and old cards still work for STR.
What you need to do
For now, nothing new is asked of anyone. Eligible STR recipients can keep using the screening as usual while waiting for KKM's announcement. Check KKM's and ProtectHealth's official channels for updates.
